- Do not use desk pads that have a plastic backing.
- Use felt or leather pads on the bottoms of office equipment and accessories.

- Periodically move desk accessories and other objects kept on the work surface to ensure even aging.
- Avoid leaving vinyl binders on the work surface for long periods of time.
- If using a protective glass top, insert pads between the glass and work surface to create an airspace to allow the wood to breathe.
- To avoid fading, try to keep wood away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Immediately wipe up any spills with a soft, dry cloth.
